The Accordion Pill ™ Platform

 
     
 

Intec's Accordion Pill™ targets the delivery of the drug payload to the upper gastrointestinal tract. Once in the stomach, the Accordion Pill™ capsule is dissolved, and its contents are retained in the stomach for a predetermined time of 6 to 24h. The drug is released in a controlled manner, thereby optimizing its absorption to the blood stream.

 
 

 
 

The Accordion Pill™ platform can provide various drug release profiles that include a combination of immediate release followed by sustained release and a zero order release profile for certain drugs. The Accordion Pill™products are able to achieve unprecedented gastric retention and controlled release of a variety of drugs with different physical and pharmacological properties for prolonged periods of time.

  Accordion Pill™ products are standard size capsules. After oral administration, the drug is retained in the stomach, with no effect on gastric emptying or digestion of food. During this period the drug is continuously delivered from the stomach to its absorption site, resulting in improved absorption.
