Intec’s Accordion Pill™, a polymeric platform composed of materials, compliant with the FDA Inactive Ingredients Guide (IIG). The dosage form is folded in an accordion-like shape into a standard sized regular capsule. The accordion may contain a single drug or a combination of drugs.
After the capsule dissolves in the stomach, the accordion unfolds. The accordion can remain in the stomach more than 12 hours. It is engineered to provide a range of retention periods, depending on the drug's desired profile. During the retention time, the drug is released towards its absorption site in the upper GI.
The accordion may provide immediate and/or sustained release depending on the drug's desired profile. Once the accordion is evacuated from the stomach, it undergoes full degradation.
